Therapy visits

Therapy visits

Using animals in therapy is becoming increasingly popular, and whilst there is limited scientific evidence to demonstrate the positive impact that animals can have in various therapeutic settings, there is a vast amount of anecdotal evidence to suggest that interacting with animals can be very beneficial.

Effects can include lowered blood pressure and heart rate (and therefore decreased anxiety), improved mood, increased sense of self-worth, and a general improvement in mental, physical and social well-being. Equine-assisted therapy has been shown to improve communication and interaction in people who are otherwise withdrawn.
Our miniature Shetland ponies are particularly good at sharing the love, and they thoroughly enjoy visiting residents of Care Homes, Nursing Homes, Hospices, Special schools, and anywhere else where they can help brighten someone's day. They are small, friendly, and really love attention, and because they're confident enough to travel in a lift, they can even visit individuals who are bed bound.

Animal assisted therapy is particularly useful for people who, for whatever reason, no longer have access to their own animals.

"It was an absolutely fantastic afternoon with Mimosa. She was so calm and gentle with everyone.

Kaf and Sandy were brilliant at interacting with residents, and encouraging them to stroke Mimosa and talk about their past interactions with horses.

Would highly recommend this service for any type of care home environment."
